Description
This rare expression of Napa Valley winemaking is one of only 60 bottles that will ever be made. Think of it as a bit of Napa Valley history in your cellar and celebrated in a glass with friends and family. Oakville is home to the 100-acre Martin Stelling Vineyard, the cornerstone of Far Niente’s Cabernet Sauvignon. Planted on some of the most beautiful, gravelly loam soil in the Napa Valley, the Stelling Vineyard grows wines of considerable depth, with layers of dark forward fruit and supple, elegant tannins. Your Premiere Napa Valley is a unique blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and a touch of Cabernet Franc. It was aged in 100% new and once-used French oak barrels. Approachable upon release, although time serves to enhance the flavors and nurture the bottle bouquet, earning Far Niente the reputation for creating age-worthy wines.

Winemaker, Far Niente
I got my hands dirty in the cellar and lab at several internships before coming to Far Niente, where I started as enologist and then became assistant winemaker, and now winemaker. I’ve essentially grown up working with Far Niente’s vineyards in Coombsville and Oakville.

Education: I received a B.S. in Viticulture and Enology from UC Davis and had internships in Sonoma and New Zealand. I consider my incredible colleagues and team at Far Niente, Nickel & Nickel, Dolce and EnRoute my mentors.

Winemaking Philosophy:
I believe that great winemaking begins in the vineyard. I work collaboratively with our viticulturist to grow great grapes. My job in the winery is to capture what each vineyard and block has to offer. Each wine lot is like a puzzle piece that needs to be assembled so that the final product is a harmonious blend which expresses both place and vintage, while staying true to the Far Niente house style.
