Description
This rare expression of Napa Valley winemaking is one of only 60 bottles that will ever be made. Think of it as a bit of Napa Valley history in your cellar and celebrated in a glass with friends and family. Your Premiere Napa Valley wine 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from land held in Taplin and Lewelling families since 1864. Vineyard rows, clusters and berries were hand-selected to best express specific soils and the tremendous 2014 vintage. Aged in a 100% new French oak barrel, this wine is beautifully well balanced with layers of complexity on a bed of dark fruit, with a rich lingering body and hints of pepper.

Julien Fayard
Winemaker, Taplin Cellars
With more than two decades of winemaking expertise, Julien Fayard believes in producing wines with an identity, exploiting what makes each one unique. Originally from France, Julien began his career as a winemaker producing wine at his family’s winery in Provence. In Bordeaux he worked at Lafite Rothschild and Smith Haut Laffite before relocating to Napa Valley. Julien earned his Master in Agri-Business from ESA France and his Master in Winemaking from Toulouse France. In 2011, he received his MBA from UC Davis.

Education: I have a master's degree in agribusiness from the Agriculture University at Angers, a Master in Enology from Toulouse and an MBA from UC Davis in Entrepreneurship and Business.

Winemaking Philosophy:
I am a terroir-centric winemaker looking for the essence and signature of a place. I prefer easing a wine forward over aggressive intervention. The magic for me is getting to know each vintage through the year, the harvest, and the fermentations so that I can consistently let the wine express that year and that place.
