Denis Malbec was born at Chateau Latour, Pauillac, France, where his father Jean-Noel also grew up and worked for 47 years more than 25 as Cellar Master. He started at Chateau Latour as one of the cellar workers in 1993 and took the position as Enologist and Cellar Master in 1994, making the 1994-1999 vintages. In 2000 Denis and his wife May-Britt, moved to California to begin consulting for a number of boutique wineries in and around Napa Valley.

Education: Denis first studied viticulture and enology in Bordeaux and later in Reims, Champagne. He completed his studies working at Chateau Haut-Brion, Chateau Lagrange and others before coming to Chateau Latour in 1993.
