Franc Sauvage
2010 Cabernet Franc
Napa Valley
Take Lang & Reed's finest lot of Cabernet Franc, Clone 214, from Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard and let it take an extended rest in a Tallis Chêne barrel, crafted from private wild forests in France and you have something pretty ‘Sauvage’. For Premiere Napa Valley, we offer a pure and bold statement of cold-climate Cabernet Franc integrated with wild oak barrel aging.
Carefully controlled primary fermentation with moderate extended maceration. One year aging in 2 year old medium toast barrel and then racked into at Forquet hand crafted French Oak barrel which originated from private wild oak forest in France. To be bottled after 30 of barrel aging.

Winemaker, Lang & Reed Napa Valley
I learned the craft of winemaking and the art of wine sales from working for over a dozen wineries over the past 40 years. Having arrived in California in 1980 with over a half of a decade of restaurant wine experience, as a buyer and wine steward [sommelier], I was prepared to absorb and apply lessons learned from many of the producers and winemakers who played such an impact on the advent of fine wine emanating from the Napa Valley. I have always felt that I have one foot in the historical past and one step forward into a great future that lies ahead in our Valley. In 1993, together with my wife, Tracey, we made our first Cabernet Franc, under the Lang & Reed label which gave us the inspiration to get our bonded winery operating in 1996. We feel, after more than 25 years of producing Lang & Reed wines, a humble part of the fabric of this great wine region.
