The Premiere Cornerstone
2010 Cabernet Sauvignon
Napa Valley
Continuing in the Cornerstone Cellars tradition of showcasing the personalities of each vintage, variety and vineyard in our wines, we combined classic Bordeaux varieties from three exceptional vineyards for our Premiere Napa Valley 2012 offering. The first building block is Cabernet Sauvignon from our Davis Block (85%), tucked in the To Kalon district of Oakville, which is lifted with a pinch of Talcott Vineyard St. Helena Cabernet Franc (5%) and spiced with a dash of brilliantly zesty Stewart Vineyard Carneros Merlot (10%). The resulting wine a quintessential Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, a complete expression of the some of the best micro-climates that define the Napa Valley. While offering immediate gratification with its harmony and elegance, this wine possesses an amazing potential to reward the patient among us with its tremendous depth and structure
Twenty two months in French Oak Bordeaux barrels of which 75% are new.

Winemaker, Cornerstone Cellars
While working as a chemist in a food science laboratory doing grape and wine research in his native New Zealand, Jeff Keene was both intrigued by wine and certain that he did not want to spend his days in a white lab coat under fluorescent lights. He returned to university and attained a Postgraduate Degree in Oenology and Viticulture at Lincoln University in New Zealand. After working several vintages at Selaks Winery and Palliser in Martinborough he came to the Napa Valley as an intern in the late '90s for Havens Wine Cellars, where he stayed on rising to assistant winemaker then winemaker. After Havens he joined the Peter Franus Wine Company, which gave him the opportunity to work with vineyards throughout the Napa Valley under the able mentoring of renowned winemaker Peter Franus, whose 30 years of Napa Valley experience was a incredible resource. In 2008 he joined Cornerstone Cellars as winemaker.
