The Pelissa and Del Bondio families have had a close relationship and have been connected through time. The Pelissa family began harvesting grapes in Napa Valley in 1903 and the Del Bondio family arrived in Napa Valley in 1902. Andrew Hoxsey, proprietor of Ghost Block and grandson of Andrew Pelissa, and Bryan Del Bondio, president of Markham Vineyards, have come together to create a Meritage blend from their respective Yountville vineyards: the Ghost Block Vineyard, part of pioneer George Yount’s original land grant where he planted the first grapevines in Napa Valley; and Markham’s historic Yountville Vineyard, first planted after Prohibition, the source of the winery’s prestigious Merlots. Andrew and Bryan, both founding members of the Yountville AVA, have come together for a third consecutive year to create this powerful blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot specifically for Premiere Napa Valley.

Q&A With the Winemaker

Q: Premiere Napa Valley wines are innovative and allow each winery to showcase the region's sense of exploration in fine winemaking. What kind of exploration did your Premiere Napa Valley wine allow you to do?

A: Our partnership has allowed us to blend a true Yountville Meritage wine showcasing each of the 5 Bordeaux varietals in their best light for the specific vintage. These are two special historic vineyards across from each other on both sides of Hwy 29.
