Description
Gustave Niebaum planted the first Cabernet Sauvignon vines on the Inglenook Estate between 1882 and 1885. Selected in France and shipped to Rutherford, these were some of the first Cabernet Sauvignon vines in Napa Valley. Continuously propagated since that time on the Rubicon Estate, cuttings were taken to U.C. Davis in 1989 as part of an ambitious effort by the university to save heritage clones of the early Napa wine industry. After ten years of careful study and selection, the university certified the Niebaum Clone as Heritage Clone #29. The foundation of all Rubicon vintages are made of Clone #29. This individual lot is a pure selection from one of Rubicon Estate best and oldest Clone #29 Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards.
