Description
Tenma Vineyard, located on an alluvial fan at the base of Jericho Canyon in Calistoga, is named for the Japanese Pegasus and provides our flagship Cabernet Sauvignon. This particular wine was fashioned from two parcels of Clone 7 Cabernet Sauvignon with the assistance of consulting winemaker Paul Hobbs.
Aging Process
Aged in 80% new French oak for 22 months total. Evaluated quarterly for racking.

Q: Premiere Napa Valley wines are innovative and allow each winery to showcase the region's sense of exploration in fine winemaking. What kind of exploration did your Premiere Napa Valley wine allow you to do?
A: The Clos Pegase Premier Napa Valley lot afforded us the opportunity to explore blends produced from the two rockiest sites in our estate Tenma Vineyard, located in the palasades at the base of Mt. St. Helena in Calistoga.
Q: What was your inspiration for this offering?
A: Clos Pegase is always dedicated to producing wines that exemplify the inherent characteristics of our Estate vineyards. Our Premier Napa Valley offering let us hyper-focus on a very unique. very small area within our premium Cabernet vineyard.

A: I chose to make this wine from this particular area because it has unique roaky soils which make the vines struggle, increasing concentration and intensity while simultaneously imparting finesse and elegance.
