Description
The story begins eons ago, when a single mountain within the Vaca Range split in two and collapsed, toward the setting sun, forming what is now the eastern border of the Oakville AVA. The resultant rubble field of volcanic "Core Stones" is a site with unique, as in orange, soil characteristics and has "Exposure" to constant and intense daily sunshine. The grapes from OE exhibit extremely ripe tannins which contribute to the unique elegance and approachability of our wines. Mat Kramer of the Wine Spectator said it best: "There are places in the world that are so special that the wine that is produced there becomes renowned. The eastern side of Oakville, CA coined 'Magic Mountain' is one of those places. What emerges from this rocky, sun-drenched soil is like no other Cabernet in the world." We hope you enjoy our MAJEK.

Marie-Laure Ammons
Winemaker, Oakville East Exposure
French native Marie-Laure, grew up in the rural Limousin region. With winemaking diplomas from both Burgundy and Bordeaux, Marie-Laure began her career in France at Domaine Lejeune in Pommard, Chateau de Pressace Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, and Dulong Negoiciants in Bordeaux. Fascinated by the energy and potential fro great wine in California, she moved here and began woring with Philippe Melka in 2003. With our 2010 vintage at Oakville East, Marie-Laure became our Head Winemaker. Sarah Gott our previous Winemaker has taken the new position of Consulting Winemaker for OE wines.
