Alta 1695 draws its name from the 1,695-foot elevation of the Mondavi family-owned Cold Springs Vineyard on Howell Mountain, a rare, high-altitude site that yields Cabernet Sauvignon of depth, strength, and enduring character.
This wine marks a new chapter for Charles Krug Winery, one of Napa Valley’s last historic estates still family-owned and independently operated. This offering is the inaugural Premiere lot crafted by fourth-generation co-proprietress Angelina Mondavi, the first woman in her family to lead the winery’s winemaking.
Shaped by a lifetime on this land and decades of global experience, Angelina brings both reverence and resolve to this singular offering. Alta 1695 stands as a powerful expression of place, purpose, and legacy—honoring the past while boldly carrying the Mondavi family story forward, one generation at a time.

At the forefront of a new generation of winemakers in Napa Valley, Angelina is currently the Assistant Winemaker for Jayson Woodbridge where she’s responsible for Hundred Acre Cabernet Sauvignon as well as Cherry Pie and Layer Cake.
She is also the winemaker and co-founder for a Howell Mountain Zinfandel project that she’s developed with her mom and three sisters called Dark Matter, which has already reached sold-out, waiting list status among its followers.
Angelina has been in the winery for much of her life. Starting out working summers in the lab at age 10, she went on to get a degree in Chemistry and Business from Villanova University.
After graduation she worked harvest as a lab tech at Hess Collection in Napa, and then at the Yalumba Wine Company in Barossa Valley. While in Australia, she earned a Master’s Degree in Oenology from the University of Adelaide's Waite Campus.
Out of school, Angelina was hired as the assistant winemaker at Pine Ridge Vineyards where she worked until 2010.
