Description
This one-of-a-kind lot is the first ever single-vineyard wine produced by Simon Family Estate from Vine Hill Ranch Vineyard. Simon Family Estate, a family-owned winery known for its limited-production, high-quality wines crafted from Napa Valley's premier vineyards, presents this wine under the skilled direction of respected winemaker Maayan Koschitzky.
Proprietor Sam Simon has long respected the legacy of vintners in the Old World, who have centuries of winemaking tradition passed down through generations of family. Sam fell in love with Napa Valley during a visit in 1989 and later put down winemaking roots here, with plans for his own family to carry his passion for wine forward in perpetuity.
Only 60 bottles of this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, made from 25-year-old Clone 4 vines planted across multiple blocks in the historic Vine Hill Ranch Vineyard, are available. The wine exemplifies the extraordinary legacy of this esteemed site in Oakville. It offers a nuanced, full-bodied profile, with layers of violets, crushed blackberry, cedar, cassis, baking chocolate and sage. The wine finishes with refreshing persistence and promises decades of enjoyment ahead.

Maayan Koschitzky
Winemaker, Simon Family Estate
Maayan Koschitzky is one of the most respected and talented winemakers in Napa Valley. He believes that wine brings people together, and now he leads the team to create the best that Napa Valley offers every vintage.
Born in Israel to a long line of farmers, Maayan studied engineering before embarking on a career in winemaking. Having gained experience in both vineyards and winemaking in his native country, he moved to California in 2011 and held positions at the legendary Screaming Eagle Winery and Dalla Valle Vineyards. This led to working with one of the most highly regarded winemakers in the U.S., Philippe Melka.
As Director of Winemaking at Atelier Melka, which he joined in 2014, Maayan has himself become a highly sought-after winemaker, one who has made a name crafting wines for some of Napa Valley’s most prestigious wineries. At Simon Family Estate, Maayan sources from multiple pedigreed vineyards to craft small production, luxury wines that reflect Napa Valley terroir at its finest.
