Description
This 100 percent Merlot was selected from three barrels aging in a combination of French and American oak. These organically grown grapes were harvested on Sept. 25, 2018 from the Los Carneros nested appellation, picked at optimal ripeness of 24.0 brix with a TA of 0/65 and pH3.59. Crushed and fully destemmed before fermentation lasting 14 days. Aging 21 months, followed by light filtration.

Winemaking Philosophy:
For Marty Mathis, veteran winemaker at Kathryn Kennedy Winery, Lateral has been a continual pursuit of
quality. Nearly twenty years ago, with the fine wines of St. Emillion Bordeaux as his inspiration, Mathis set
out to create a balanced, luxurious blend from the finest grapes he could access. His inspiration has never
wavered, leading him finally in 2008 to select Napa Valley vineyards, including well-known names such as
Robert Sinskey, Yount Mill and Pat Garvy.
