Les Deux Montagnes
2016 Cabernet Sauvignon
Napa Valley
Our Premiere Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon hails from two prized mountain terroirs: 50% from a unique block of the prized Stagecoach Vineyard on Prichard Hill, and 50% from single-vineyard, classic Mount Veeder. Deep, intense and at the same time silky, pure and precise, our wine is indicative of the higher-elevation volcanic terroir and winemaker Yannick Rousseau’s Old World, hands-off approach to winemaking. Our 100% Cabernet Sauvignon was fermented using native yeasts and aged for 18 months in French oak barrels from the small artisanal French cooperage, Tonnellerie de Jarnac.
Winemaker, Y. Rousseau Wines
Yannick Rousseau was born in Gascony of the South-West of France known for its 'French paradox' of delicious, rich food, daily wine consumption and impressive longevity of the inhabitants. His life-long journey in wine started when he was 5 years old and drank his first glass of homemade wine with Pepe (his grandpa). Pepe hunted his own food, made his own wine, and was the town's artisan butcher.
Yannick earned his Master's degree in Enology and Viticulture from University Paul Sabatier in Toulouse, France. Then he apprenticed with Alain Brumont, pioneer of the finest Tannat wines made in the Madiran appellation. Since 1999, Yannick worked his craft in Napa Valley making award-winning wines, first, at Newton Vineyards working closely with winemaker Luc Morlet and consulting winemaker Michel Rolland, and then, at Chateau Potelle Winery. He started Y. Rousseau winery in 2008 working with varieties close to his heart and French roots.

Winemaking Philosophy:
Yannick stays deeply connected to his French roots. He will always remain the son and grandson of a farmer, home winemaker, and country butcher. His down-to-earth, respectful approach to the vineyard is obvious in his wines, as is his view that wine should be enjoyed with good food in a good company.
