Louis M. Martini

Cabernet Sauvignon
Napa Valley

5 cases produced

  • 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Mount Veeder (75%) and Coombsville (25%) nested appellations
  • Bruadair Vineyard sits high in the Mayacamas Mountains, with vines planted on a steep southwestern facing slope
  • Rapp Lane Vineyard has one of the longest growing seasons of any of Napa Valley's nested appellations
  • Both lots were carefully vinified in small tanks and are aging for 19 months in French oak

Louis M. Martini’s decision to settle in Napa Valley was driven by a desire to craft exceptional wines by sourcing the best fruit possible. In the years that followed Prohibition, he established a legacy of craftsmanship and a passion for Napa Valley that continues to this day. Our history reflects the vision, ingenuity and endurance of a family committed to making the best Cabernet Sauvignon possible. Its history dates back over 70 years when Louis M. Martini began a practice that would become a hallmark of his winery. While tasting through Cabernet aging in the cellar, he began selecting exceptional lots, choosing ones that showcased the essence of Cabernet Sauvignon character and designating them to craft his finest wine. Of the Cabernet selected in 2022, the Mount Veeder and Coombsville lots stood out the most and spoke to the dichotomy of the vintage - one harvested before the blistering heat of Labor Day, the other in mid-October. When artfully blended together, they transcend the challenges of the vintage and make a beautifully complex and age-worthy wine.

Mark Williams

Winemaker, Louis M. Martini Winery

Winemaker, Mark Williams

Growing up, Mark Williams spent his summers helping his father, a University of California at Davis viticulture professor, harvest table grapes for research. So, it came as no surprise when Mark decided to major in food science and enology at California State University, Fresno.

Years of accompanying his father while pruning, harvesting and researching Paso Robles, Napa Valley and other premier winegrowing regions, made enology a natural progression for Mark. Today he is the head winemaker for Louis M. Martini Winery – only the 5th winemaker in the history of the iconic Napa Valley producer. “Each vintage, I strive to express the best of Napa Valley – in a refined way,” Mark says.

Mark joined E. & J. Gallo Winery in 2001 as an enologist and has gained varied experience over the past two decades. His winemaking career has led him around the world from the Eden Valley in Australia to the Edna Valley on California’s Central Coast.

Mark enjoys hiking, mountain biking and skiing. He is an avid wine collector and loves to travel and explore new wine regions.
