A compelling piece of our estate program, Sequoia Grove Winery has been working with fruit from our Tonella Estate Vineyard for nearly two decades. The site’s acclaimed location within the historic epicenter of Rutherford off Skellenger Lane was originally acquired and developed by JJ Ponti in 1922. Sitting at the base of the Vaca Mountains, blocks within the vineyard’s rocky, largely volcanic soils produced the grapes we selected for this exclusive cuvee, revealing classic Rutherford characteristics of bright red fruit, a dense and broad mid-palate, with luxurious refined tannins. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon barrel selection is one we’re proud to exclusively present to you.

Winemaker, Jesse Fox

Jesse Fox most recently served as winemaker at Amici Cellars and began his winemaking career in the cellars of Harlan Estates’ The Napa Valley Reserve and Promontory; he also served as the assistant winemaker at Ram’s Gate in Sonoma-Carneros.

Before starting his wine career, which has taken him to the Loire Valley, Argentina and New Zealand, Fox studied at Le Cordon Bleu and Cornell University, and worked as a chef for Thomas Keller at The French Laundry.

Fox’s professional kitchen experience makes him uniquely suited to reinforce the Sequoia Grove philosophy built around tradition-defying culinary pairings that showcase Cabernet Sauvignon’s nuances.
