Estate Reserve
2021 Cabernet Sauvignon
Napa Valley
This unique Premiere Napa Valley wine celebrates 50 years of winemaking at Cakebread Cellars, showcasing the best of the family’s vineyards throughout the Napa Valley. Stephanie Jacobs crafted the wine from five diverse estate vineyards, including the renowned Dancing Bear Ranch that sits above the fogline on the slopes of Howell Mountain. Additional Cabernet Sauvignon fruit came from our Oakville Home Ranch, Suscol Springs Vineyard and Doggwood Vineyard. The blend will also include fruit from Hill Ranch, a vineyard that sits behind Jack Cakebread’s house on the benchlands of the Mayacamas Mountains. Your wine is aging for 22 months in 50% new French oak barrels. Using fruit from the valley floor, benchlands and steep mountain slopes, this wine is an exquisite combination of concentrated fruit, firm tannins and fresh acidity with an elegant finish.
Winemaker, Cakebread Cellars
I started school with every intention of becoming a beer brewer, but during my pre-requisite winemaking classes, I realized wine was my true passion and calling. An internship with Chalone and early jobs with Perry Creek vineyards and Bogle winery further confirmed that I had made the right choice. I joined Cakebread in 2004 as Enologist and became Assistant Winemaker in 2008, along with the role of Pinot Noir Project Leader in 2012. I had the benefit of learning from the talented Julianne Laks during her 30+ year tenure at Cakebread, along with Jack Cakebread and Bruce Cakebread who were the winery’s first and second winemakers.
