Description
The 2013 Llamas Family Cabernet Sauvignon is our inaugural release from a single block within the famed Stagecoach Vineyard. The characteristic red volcanic loam soils pair with southwestern-facing slopes and heat-tempering marine breezes from San Pablo Bay to create a unique terroir utterly suited to ripening Cabernet Sauvignon. We harvested our Cabernet Sauvignon from Pritchard Hill Block I2B on September 9 while the fruit was optimally balanced between ripeness, phenolic and flavor development. Once in the winery, the fruit was sorted, de-stemmed and cold-soaked for 24 hours before undergoing native-yeast fermentation. The wine was then aged in French oak (75% new) for 20 months.
