From dozens of individual lots, representing hundreds of barrels, Lewis Cellars narrowed the field to just one defining blend for Premiere Napa Valley 2023. The Lewis winemaking team methodically searched for singularly expressive barrels from the highest-ranking lots in the cellar. Once discovered, samples from each were put through a rigorous blending and elimination program to arrive at one single barrel that rose above them all. This barrel highlights the seamless integration, raw power and concentrated intensity that enthusiasts have come to expect from Lewis Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon.

James McCeney
Winemaker, Lewis Cellars
From a young age James tended vines in his home state of Maryland with colleagues who would become lifelong friends. After college he worked harvests internationally – in the Barossa, Hawke’s Bay and Burgundy – while earning a degree from UC Davis and pressing cuvée at Domaine Carneros.
Before joining Lewis Cellars, James gained experience on the winemaking teams of Donum, Dutton Goldfield, Patz & Hall and Acacia.
James has followed the Tour de France by bicycle and loves to peddle commute to Lewis Cellars on his uncle's Colnago.
