Description

This exceptional 2019 Cabernet Franc from Stagecoach Vineyard in Napa showcases the expressive qualities of an elegant varietal. The Stagecoach property itself is a study in determination, cultivated with a bandit, a water witch and the removal of 1 billion tons of rock. Once considered unplantable, this world-class vineyard spans multiple micro-climates dotting rugged terrain, yielding fruit of astonishing quality. Winemaker Patrick Saboe sourced the fruit for this Premiere Napa Valley lot from his very favorite block, E1. This block encompasses low yielding vines that deliver enticing aromatics of red fruit and soft berry, gradually giving way to refined minerality and light herbaceous notes for a wine of unparalleled elegance. After a long maceration, this lot was aged in legendary Taransaud French Oak, using 50% new oak for a wine of complexity and nuance. The finished wine incorporates a small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon for added depth and Petit Verdot for additional structure and a lingering finish. Both blending components are also sourced from Stagecoach Vineyard, for a 100% Stagecoach Vineyard wine.
