Winemaker, Quixote Winery
Robert is the perfect choice for the role of Quixote winemaker. Everything at Quixote is distinctive and created in pursuit of the highest quality and the same could be said for Robert.
Growing up in Modesto, Robert constantly set himself apart from expectations. His first job as a research intern at Gallo peaked his interest in fermentation, inspiring him to begin brewing craft IPAs and consider a career as a brew master. Luckily, it wasn't long before the wine bug bit him and he jumped in with both feet.
After securing his baccalaureate in Enology from Fresno State University, Robert embarked on his journey. His first harvest internship at Quintessa set the foundation for a lifelong personal and professional relationship with consulting winemaker, Aaron Pott. Following Quintessa, Robert continued to hone his skills with positions at Seven Stones, Krupp Brothers and Covert Estate as well as a harvest stint in South Africa. In 2011 Robert accepted the position as winemaker for Quixote, reuniting him with Aaron Pott. Adding to the list of impressive mentors including Aaron Pott and Julien Fayard, Robert now works in tandem with Philippe Melka.
It's his ability to create complex and elegantly refined Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and of course, the signature varietal at Quixote, Petite Sirah that truly illustrates his undeniable talent. Robert constantly strives to produce age worthy, well-balanced wines with immediate softness and approachability.
