Description

The 2014 Italics Winegrowers Estate Cabernet Sauvignon was created from blocks of old vines, planted with Napa’s tried and true clones. Also in 2014, the winery harvested the first crop of its newer blocks, planted with some heirloom clones. First impressions: the nose is distinctively spicy—nutmeg and clove—an homage to the sophisticated barrel program, which Italics continues to refine. As the wine opens up, the delicate strawberry compote nose floats to the rim of the glass. The nose is sweet, like smelling a sugar glaze as it is drizzled on a warm spice cake. In the mouth, the texture is like a perfectly brewed cup of Assam tea—warm with just enough tannin to give the palate length and duration. This is not a heavy, chewy wine. On the contrary, it is built for lasting pleasure. Give this wine some time to open up, and possibly decant it. The 2014 Italics Estate Cabernet Sauvignon will peak throughout the next 10 years with a wide window for its optimal range. The best news? You can enjoy 24 bottles of this wine, specially commissioned for your lot.
