Lang & Reed’s exploration of Cabernet Franc took the team full circle with an inspirational visit to the ancient town of Saint-Émilion in France, on the Fourth of July in 1977. There, they were enthralled with the rich and inviting wines that are crafted in the region, where Cabernet Franc and Merlot play the lead roles and Cabernet Sauvignon a supporting one. In 2004 and 2005, Lang & Reed crafted Right Bank Red Wine as an homage to that visit so that they could have something to drink to celebrate future wedding anniversaries. The resulting wine is an assemblage of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon from vineyards located in the heart of Napa Valley. Each vineyard site was selected to accent these different grapes’ characteristics, so when brought together their individual attributes would lift each other harmoniously. The team bottled a couple of 3-liter double magnums of each of the two vintages, and now Lang & Reed would like to share this rare bottling with you. You can obtain one 3-liter bottle each of 2004 Right Bank and 2005 Right Bank. The two double magnums will be nested in a handcrafted redwood box.
