Description

Promontory is a winegrowing endeavor taken on by the Harlan family in the Napa Valley. Recent in genesis, the seed of this vision traces its roots back to the nascent years of Harlan Estate. In the early 1980s while hiking along Oakville’s southwestern ridge, H. William Harlan discovered an isolated territory. The hidden expanse—ancient and untamed—moved him deeply, but remained elusive until the Harlan family was finally able to capture it in 2008. As the second generation, led by Will Harlan and director of winegrowing Cory Empting, explored and worked with the land, they began to make discoveries of their own. At the core of this wild terrain, they found a powerful geologic convergence, which had shaped its steep, rugged topography, and created the conditions for an altogether exotic winegrowing environment. Over time they found that the dramatic landscape—just beyond the edge of the known—would slowly change them, and ultimately inspire a new endeavor: Promontory. The Harlan family invites you to share this momentous discovery with a remarkable six-vintage vertical that represents an evolution in understanding and discovery, as the mysterious character of this place begins to unfold. You will receive one 1.5-liter magnum each of the 2009 to 2014 vintages of Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon.
