Two back-to-back library vintages in multiple formats provide a rare glimpse into the heart of Purlieu Wines. This lot offers an opportunity for vintage and format comparison while showcasing the potential of 100% Coombsville Cabernet Sauvignon from its namesake single vineyard, the Teucer Vineyard. Legendary wine critic Robert Parker didn’t know much about the Teucer Vineyard when he tasted the 2013 and 2014 vintages, but he said, “[the wine] has certainly provided a compelling reason to find out more about [the Teucer Vineyard].” Just a couple years later, Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW of Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate called the 2016 vintage “just magic.” Winemaker Julien Fayard heralds the Teucer Vineyard for its cool growing climate and complexity, giving these wines a long, layered drinking life of 25 to 30 years or more. This well-regarded lot features a standard 12-bottle case of 2013 Teucer Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as an etched 3-liter double magnum and a 6-liter imperial bottle. As if that weren’t enough, the offering repeats itself with a standard 12-bottle case of 2014 Teucer Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as an etched 3-liter double magnum and a 6-liter imperial bottle for a formidable total of 28 bottles in all.
