Description
Adjacent to our Rutherford Estate, is a small 10 acre parcel we call the Peral Vineyard. This name of this site is derived from the Spanish word for pear, as it was originally a pear orchard. Today, amongst the vines, sits a 100 year old pear tree, left in place to honor the sites rich agricultural history. This wine is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and offers complex flavors of dark cherry and blackberry are complemented by hints of cocoa, graphite and savory herbs. This wine is structured with firm but smooth tannins that lead to a satisfyingly long finish.

Winemaker, Foley Johnson
In 2000, he began his career in the wine industry at Kuleto Estate Winery where he worked under winemaker, David Lattin.
In 2011, Gio was given an opportunity to work for Merus in addition to his Kuleto Estate position, handcrafting some of the best Cabernet Sauvignons in the Napa Valley. In 2016, Gio ventured out of the Napa Valley and became the Associate Winemaker at Langtry Estate in the Guenoc Valley of Lake County. However, Gio always had a love for Napa Valley and when he was offered the head of Winemaker position at Foley Johnson, he was thrilled to get back to his Napa roots. “I have always been a big fan of Foley Johnson wines and am happy and honored to continue the Foley Family's legacy and vision. The Rutherford AVA is highly regarded and the Foley Johnson vineyards are in an ideal location for grape growing. I am thrilled to be working with Rutherford grapes. This is a great appellation for Bordeaux varietals.”
In his free time, Gio enjoys spending time with his wife, Angie, three children, and their two dogs. He also loves watching the Dallas Cowboys, and going to summer concerts at the Veterans Memorial Park in Napa.
