Howell at the Moon’s mission is to offer Cabernet Sauvignon made from the highest quality grapes grown at its vineyard high atop Howell Mountain. These grapes were planted from scratch and all the important elements of winemaking researched and controlled to offer a product—to even the most critical oenophile—that can compete with the finest Cabernet Sauvignons in the world. Curious? Judge for yourself, as your lot includes two cases each of Knoll Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from the 2011, 2012 and 2013 vintages. Your wine is sourced from a 3-acre vineyard planted in 2004 on a knoll resting 100 feet above the winery’s farmhouse and initial plantings. Even though this vineyard is on the same property, the soils proved to be very different, being deeper and richer. The Knoll Vineyard is 1.5 acres and produces 76 to 125 cases annually. Cover crops include rose clover, crimson clover and Blando Brome grass, which complement the vines already planted, and remain consistent with Howell at the Moon’s belief in sustainable farming.
