Three immensely talented members of the SLOAN ESTATE production team—winemaker Martha McClellan, vineyard manager David Abreu and consulting oenologist Michel Rolland—have worked together to handcraft exceptional wines since the turn of the millennium. Sticking with this three-sided theme, this lot features "One of the Three Wise Men," as only three 12-liter bottles are produced in each vintage for the library of SLOAN ESTATE—and are never made available on the market. Hand-filled, hand-etched and hand-painted, this extremely rare bottle of the 2012 vintage is a perfect format for long-term aging or big-time celebrating. Born in textbook-perfect conditions on volcanic soils of the eastern hills of the Rutherford nested appellation, this wine exhibits a gorgeous tension between elements of grace and power, balance and opulence, and complexity and vibrancy. It is seductive, with exceptional fruit finesse, mineral and a multi-layered mouthfeel.
