Description
John and Doug Shafer are one of the most renowned father-and-son winemaking duos in history. In 1983, Doug joined the winery as winemaker, and when he tasted the 1982 lot from the Sunspot Vineyard block, he was so impressed that he talked his father into keeping it separate from the others. With the Sunspot lot, Doug then created Shafer’s one-and-only Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. Just one short year later, however, Doug believed the Reserve deserved a better name and crafted the first Hillside Select with the 1983 vintage. You can be a part of this family legacy as Shafer Vineyards is pleased to offer an ultra rare, 15-year vertical of Hillside Select. The bold, elegant beauty of every vintage from 2000 to 2014 is captured in a magnum (one bottle per year), offering a one-of-a-kind taste of some of Shafer's best-loved vintages.
