Spoto Family Wines
5 cases produced
- Our Family Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is the finest wine we produce; only one barrel is made every few years
- The fruit is from the Oakville Station, which is part of a most historic vineyard in the Oakville nested appellation
- Artisan made with hand punch-downs, gravity-feed movement and constant attention to detail
- Aging in custom-made French oak, your wine is a stellar example of a handcrafted, small-lot wine
The 2018 Spoto Family Reserve is packed with power and youthful exuberance. This is a red-fruit dominant, full-bodied behemoth that will stay for 20 years in your cellar. The nose of this wine is amazing with aromas like a pastry shop around the holidays with a hint of a wildflower garden. The entry of this wine is dominated by black cherry, red currants, red licorice, bing cherries, red-hot spices, cinnamon, hint of fig. Very bright acidity and loaded with tons of power throughout. Finishes with young oak, stiff but punchy tannic character, tapping you on the shoulder and saying "Yeah, I'm this good now, but you should come back to the others you bought in a few years."
- Wine is unfiltered
- Single vineyard wine
- Sustainably produced
Winemaker, Spoto Family Wines
Stuart Spoto learned the art of winemaking from his father Henry Spoto Jr. and together they have been making family wines for over 30 years. This family collaboration has greatly influenced Stuart to create his ultra-boutique winery (producing less than 500 cases per year) and perfect his Oakville Cabernet and Bordeaux blends.

Two things really, good grapes and cleanliness. This is a very minimalistic approach but solid advice given to me by my father years ago.
