Description
This unique Premiere Napa Valley wine celebrates the Cabernet Franc varietie from two different, yet equally special, Vaca Mountain vineyard sites. To the north, our Dancing Bear Ranch sits above the fogline on the slopes of Howell Mountain, providing rocky soils and ideal sun exposure for intensely flavorful grapes. To the south, our Suscol Springs estate enjoys cooler maritime breezes that help retain acidity and lend brightness and finesse. Crafted from Clones 332, 214 and 312, our 2018 Premiere Napa Valley Cabernet Franc selection rests for 22 months in 50 percent new French oak barrels. The result is an exquisite combination of concentrated fruit, firm tannins, fresh acidity and an elegant finish.

I started school with every intention of becoming a beer brewer, but during my pre-requisite winemaking classes, I realized wine was my true passion and calling. An internship with Chalone and early jobs with Perry Creek vineyards and Bogle winery further confirmed that I had made the right choice. I joined Cakebread in 2004 as Enologist and became Assistant Winemaker in 2008, along with the role of Pinot Noir Project Leader in 2012. I had the benefit of learning from the talented Julianne Laks during her 30+ year tenure at Cakebread, along with Jack Cakebread and Bruce Cakebread who were the winery’s first and second winemakers.
