Description
In 1972, Tom Burgess established a winery and business on the side of Howell Mountain, promoting the then little known Napa Valley region. Honoring Tom's passion and determination, we named our Premiere Napa Valley wine "Brush Breaker." This unique wine is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Block 7 hailing from our esteemed Haymaker Vineyard that Tom Burgess developed in 1988. Harvested at the peak of perfection, “Brush Breaker” has all the characteristics of an eastern-facing hillside vineyard on Howell Mountain: inky, black fruit and cassis flavors and complex aromas with the perfect balance of sweet French oak and refined, velvety tannins. Crafted to highlight the terroir of this unique vineyard site, this legendary wine is sure to be a stunner for years to come.

I fell into winemaking by accident, and what a happy accident it has become! As a winemaker, I've been fortunate to work with some of the best fruit in the valley ranging from the beautiful hillsides of Howell Mountain to the fabulous valley floor vines in Rutherford and beyond. I've had the pleasure of working with some of the finest winemakers that have helped shape and form my winemaking philosophies and techniques. I love the challenge that each vintage brings, and taking what Mother Natures gives us to create elegant, world-renowned wines.
