Description
This exclusive Premiere Napa Valley blend of 100% estate grown mountain fruit takes the two best varietal components from the best blocks of Cardinale and showcases them together. One vineyard block of Mt. Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon meets one vineyard block of Howell Mountain Merlot in a powerhouse version of Cardinale that is available only for Premiere Napa Valley. The blend is 85% Mt. Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Howell Mountain Merlot.
Chris Carpenter

A University of Illinois football defensive lineman, president and chairman of the Napa Valley Youth Symphony, food lover, soccer dad, and holder of master’s degrees in horticulture and business, Cardinale winemaker Christopher Carpenter is as multi-layered as the wines he makes.
After graduating from UC Davis’ Viticulture & Enology program in 1998, he joined Cardinale, becoming winemaker in 2001. Equally an expert at grape growing as he is at making wine, Christopher vinifies grapes from more than a dozen vineyards throughout Napa Valley, and through arduous blending, creates a wine that demonstrates the personality of each vintage, and whose whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Chris Carpenter is the winemaker for some of Napa Valley's most prestigious wineries, including Cardinale, Lokoya, La Jota and Mt. Brave. He has earned a reputation for taming Napa mountain tannins and creating legendary Cabernet Sauvignon. He believes in maximum attention in the vineyards and minimal intervention in the winery to create the purest expression of place.
