Description
Our 2016 Lagniappe Peak "Couplet" Cabernet Sauvignon captures the terroir of two of Napa Valley's unique viticultural areas, Atlas Peak and Coombsville. The Atlas Peak component brings structure and minerality, while the Coombsville component brings a sensuous opulence. Couplet is truly a marriage made in heaven. These two distinct lots were blended to create an elegant and unique wine following 20 months of barrel aging in French oak, featuring a variety of coopers, including Demptos, Treuil and Sylvain.

Kian Tavakoli
Winemaker, Lagniappe Peak Vineyards
Kian graduated from UC Davis in 1992, with a degree in genetics and viticulture. His first assignment in Napa took him to Opus One, where he spent four years as enologist. He subsequently moved to Clos du Val, where he spent 9 years; eventually heading the Cabernet Sauvignon program, including their prestigious Napa Valley Reserve bottling.
Kian combines his extensive experience in making award winning Napa Valley Cabs and Bordeaux blends with his love of food (developed at an early age as the son of restaurateurs) to create our elegant and food friendly wines.
Country born: Iran
Education: UC Davis graduate in 1992, with a degree in Genetics/Viticulture Minor.
Spent 9 years at Clos Du Val where he was Associate Winemaker and eventually winemaker of their Cabernet program. Under the tutelage of Bernard Portet, he honed his skills in the craft of blending - creating focused, distinguished, and layered wines.
Years in the wine industry: 20-30 years

Creating refined, structured and well balanced wines, expressing varietal characteristic, as well as a sense of place.
