Description

This special Calafia estate vineyard plot hails from St. Helena. Planted in 2000, it’s in the classic Bale Loam soil, with cobble. The cépage is Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Petit Verdot. In 2010 our harvest was in late October, allowing ample hang time for full phenolic maturity. All three varieties were co-fermented and piégage was done by hand. Aging was 27 months in French Château Ferre barrels, 30% new. This wine has crimson color. Brooding aromas and flavors are black-fruit-driven. The palate is silky, rich and coating. Now, with 10 years of bottle age, it has reached a pinnacle of perfection.
