2009 Petite Sirah
Napa Valley
This is the encore vintage of Aratas Wine, Napa Valley’s producer solely focused on the American Heritage grape Petite Sirah. Released 10 years ago, this single-vineyard library bottling demonstrates the intrinsic ageability and complexity of site-selective Petite Sirah. Aratas by definition means “harvest of gold” and honors the Chohany family’s Hungarian heritage. There were 502 cases produced of this wine, 100% estate grown in loamy alluvial soils on the valley floor in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley nested appellation. The wine was fermented on native yeast, had a five-day cold soak, and was aged 20 months in 30% new Trust Hungarian oak and François Frère French oak.
