Description

Our second ever Premiere Napa Valley lot coincides with three generations of our family celebrating the first full year of operation at our new Calistoga estate winery, constructed for our longstanding production of Napa Valley wines. A blend of predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine is a selection of the most outstanding lots from our Calistoga estate, a site that has been farmed and vinified by our family since 1975. Nestled between the foot of the Palisades and Simmons Canyon Creek in Calistoga, these vineyards are planted in alluvial fan soils composed of boomer clay loam and gravelly volcanic deposits that yield small quantities of fruit. This lot was meticulously sorted, whole berry fermented and is aging in 100% new French oak barrels for 23 months. The resulting wine showcases a rare combination of rich, concentrated flavors, supple texture and elegance.

Adam Goodrich

Winemaker, Fisher Vineyards

Winemaker, Adam Goodrich

As Adam recalls, “wine was really the only adult beverage I saw growing up,” which ultimately led to a keen interest while studying at the University of Nevada. After graduating with a degree in BioChemistry, Adam shifted focus to the realm of winemaking, first joining the lab at Franciscan Estate, followed by the Robert Mondavi Winery in Oakville. Having gained a practical view of chemistry in wine, Adam went on to develop a love for the art of winemaking over many years working with Bob Cabral at Williams Selyem.

Adam joined Fisher Vineyards in 2010, bringing with him a deep appreciation for the expression of terroir in classically balanced wines. Now working with estate vineyards and a close-nit team, Adam describes having found true winemaking “in capturing the soil, topography, joy and emotional experience as a snapshot of both the vintage and our lives.”

Outside of the winery, Adam and his wife, Natalie, stay quite busy with two children, Grace and Gabriel. In addition to time with spent with family, Adam enjoys gardening, golf and running – and at the end of most days, can be found with a great glass of wine that speaks to the place it was made.
